The law firm of Robertson, Miller & Rosenhaupt has submitted affidavits in the case of Neil Bowie against Northern Pacific Railway company.

They state that during the month of April, 1902, Mrs. Gilkey of Chicago, who was then in Spokane, informed the firm that Mr. Bowie's son had been killed in a wreck on the Central Washington near Cheney. Mr.  Robertson took the case at the request of Mr. Bowie.

After the cause was set for trial it is said negotiations were entered into with the Northern Pacifle looking towards a settlement. They allege that John M. Bunn, a Northern Pacific attorney, said the case would be settled for $2000. The firm was to receive $1000 as their fee.

Mr. Bowie, however, did not want to be paid for the death of the boy, and it is alleged Mr. Bunn offered to place the money in the Spokane & Eastern Trust company at interest.

The case was to have come up in October and Mr. White, representing Mr. Bunn, is said to have stated to the court that the case was to be stricken off the docket as it was settled.  Bunn, it is alleged, offered a fee of $250 to Robertson, Miller & Rosenhaupt. They offered to settle for $500.
