Martin W. Snyder, formerly a locomotive engineer for the Great Northern railway, was awarded $9560 damages by a jury in Judge J. Stanley Webster's department of the superior court today, following a trial which has lasted two weeks The jury retired after argument of attorneys Thursday afternoon and it took til this morning to agree on a verdict.  All but one juror agreed to the findings.

Snyder received injuries to his leg and hip, which have made him lame probably for life, when the locomotive he was driving ran into an open switch at Hillyard in 1911. Snyder is a wealthy man, according to evidence introduced at the trial, the railroad attempting to show he was worth $40,000 to $50,000. He owns 30 acres of land in Idaho, a fine home at Hillyard and has other property.
