Nearly a score of Spokaneites
motored to Seattle today to attend
the 20th annual convention of the
Washington State Federation of
Music Clubs, opening tomorrow.

Among them were: Miss Ruth
Sampson, first vice president of|
the state organization; Mrs. Jesse
W. Burgan, past president and
national board member of the
National Federation of Music Clubs;
Mrs. W. F. Freeman, new
chairman of the northeast district; Mrs.
William Lucht, Mrs. Harrison
Porter, Miss Lila Sayre, Miss Eleanor
Skok, Miss Elizabeth Sampson, Mr,
and Mrs. Robert A, Choate; Mrs.
W. V. McElhaney, Pandean club
counselor, and  Pandeans Ruth)
Woolsey, Harl Aldrich, Gus Hempstead,
Marion Swanson, June Berkey,
Lorilla Johnson, Rosaleen
Jackman, Phyliss Cowell and Maxine
Reiniger.

Tomorrow is junior and student
day. Miss Woolsey, Pandean club
president, will give a cello solo,
“Hungarian Rhapsody” (Popper),
accompanied by young Hempstead
at the piano. Harl Aldrich will be
toastmaster at luncheon at the
Woman's Century club, Miss Elizabeth
Sampson and Miss Skok will
participate in the district student
musicians and young artists’ contest
in the evening.

These two young ladies, both
sopranos, placed first in state
contests sponsored by the federation,
and will be heard in the “winners”
contest Monday. On Tuesday Mr.
Choate, president, Washington
Music Educators’ conference, will
participate in an education forum.

Miss Sampson will preside at the
Wednesday luncheon, and Mrs,
Lucht and Mrs. McElhaney,
representing the Monday Musicale club,
will be on the program. Mrs.
Lucht will give several vocal
selections, accompanied by Mrs.
McElhaney.
