'''SENIOR CLASS HISTORY'''

On September 5, 1949, twenty-five wide-eyed freshmen presented themselves at
Reardan High School, five of them entering from outside districts.

Our first activity was the election of class officers for the year, They were as follows:

Betty Brommer: Treasurer
Carol Lightle: Council Representative
Mr. McKay: Class Advisor

On the evening of September 23, we were initiated by the seniors. Many amazing
embarrassing stunts were performed. We enjoyed ourselves, although we spent the
day with onions around our necks.

A return party for the seniors was given on April Fool’s Day. Modern dancing was
enjoyed by all.

During the year, Virginia Forthhoffer and Jane Marker left us. A Lativian girl was
a member of our class for a few weeks.

As sophomores, twenty-five of us returned, including Jane Marker, an “almost new”
member, Bobby Franklin moved to Oregon and Ruth Conner left us in December.

As sophomores many of the boys participated in athletics. Carol Lightle was chosen
yell leader and Harold Rhoads did good work on the F.F.A. judging team.

On March 23, we gave our sophomore party. Square dancing and refreshments
were enjoyed by all.

The class officers for the year were:

In September, twenty-six juniors returned to their studies and activities, included
were three new members, Harold and Henry Thompson from Lewis and Clark, Delbert
Koberstine, a transfer from Spokane Junior Academy.

Class officers for the year were:

Our first great activity for the year was our class play, entitled “Seventeen”. The
play was directed by Mr. Ross. The play was a huge success.

“The Isle of Golden Dreams” was the theme of our Junior-Senior Banquet and prom
held on April 25. The gymnasium was beautifully decorated with the air of Hawaiian
beauty. Palm trees, ocean scenes under the blue sky greeted the eye. Roy Holliday’s
dance music was enjoyed by all.

The banquet tables centered with silver and gold guitars and like miniature nutcups
was laden with food, typical of the island. Each guest was provided with leis and the
traditional memory booklet. Musical numbers interspired the toasts, prophecy and will.
The program was climaxed by Miss Raymer’s talk. Servers were attired in native costume.

Paul Lillengreen was chairman of the entire event.

Our class rings and pins arrived in November and everyone is wearing them very proudly.
