The thirty-one members making up the Reardan football roster consisted of eleven freshmen, seven sophomores, eight juniors, and five seniors, The bulk of the team were inexperienced freshmen and sophomores. Last year’s graduation had taken its toll of experienced players. However, the team showed up well in their games and were able to win about as many games as they lost to opponents.
There were only two home games this year. The first game was played with Almira. Both teams played good ball and were evenly matched as to size, strength, and ability—as the score indicated. After four hard-played quarters in which neither team could score, the game ended 0-0.
The next week the Indians were defeated by a strong squad from Otis Orchards. This was the first time that Reardan and Otis Orchards had ever met in a football game. The aerial power of Otis Orchards proved too strong for the Indians, and the Otis Orchards team was able to run up a large score due to their superior passing ability. The game was a good clean game and no regrets over losing were expressed.
The boys journeyed to Harrington for their next game.
The game with Springdale was scheduled to be played at Reardan; but due to the fact that Springdale desired a Homecoming game at Springdale, the place of play was changed. This was the closest game of the season. The two teams were evenly matched and each team scored three times. Springdale made two out of three tries for extra point, and Reardan three out of three tries, thus winning the game by a score of 20-19.
Almira was the only team which Reardan played twice. Again the Reardan Indians won, this time by a score of 26-12.
Our next game was with Rosalia in the evening. This gave the team an opportunity to play under the lights, which was a new experience for many of the players.
The last game of the season was with Tekoa at Tekoa. This was also the first time Reardan had ever scheduled an athletic contest with Tekoa.
Reardan players who ended their football playing careers are Dwayne Paul, Carl Rogers, Daniel Plaster, Dale Dahlin, and Douglas McEachran.
