MINE FOR COAL NEAR REARDAN

Runyon and Pershal Expect to Have Product on Bank by Early Fall.

Development of coal measures was begun this week by M. D. Runyon and Charles Pershal on a 160-acre area one and a half miles northeast of Little Falls, 14 miles north of Reardan and 33 miles from Spokane. The number of men at work, which is three, will be increased. An operator of long experience, Mr. Runyon expects to have coal out for market in three or four months.

The coal is a semi-bituminous of good fuel quality, he said yesterday. Development is being centered on measures Nos. 2 and 3. No. 2 is four feet wide. The width of No. 3 will be determined when development is advanced. The pitch is 27 degrees.

There is a home market in the Big Bend country, said Mr. Runyon. The farmers will pay $6 a ton at the bank and haul it away. The employment of 150 men before snow flys is an expectation of the operators.
