PAVELICH GUILTY, PRISON OFFENSE


Mike Chatovich Also Convicted as Jointist—Pavelich Figured in Green Tragedy. --- John Pavelich was found guilty as a jointist yesterday in superior court and he must serve at least a year in the penitentiary.

Both Pavelich and Mike Chatovich were convicted on the jointist charge as the result of a raid on the Montana bar at Trent and Washington, June 30. E. C. Wold, also arrested In the raid, was found not guilty.

Testimony that Pavelich rode around in a Lineoln automobile but did not work and that he had moonshine in a suitcase at the time of the raid was given by police officers. The officers said the plan was to pass up liquor from the basement when customers appeared.

Police officers testified that they went in plain clothes and bought liquor from Chatovich, who was behind the bar. They said they were obliged to threaten to shoot to stop Pavelich and Chatovich from coming in their direction.

Payelich has been convicted for violating the liquor laws before but not on a jointist charge, He first came into the limelight when the auto he was driving collided with one driven by Dr, Green and the physician was killed, but he was acquitted of manslaughter.
