LIFE OF STUDY ENDED BY AUTO

Mary Driscoll, 30, Killed by Car, Was to Have Won New Honor in June.

REARDAN, Wash., April 30.—Funeral services for Miss Mary Driscoll, 30, who was hit by an automobile and killed, in New York city, were held this morning at St. Michael's church here, the Rev. Father Blake officiating.

Miss Driscoll was born July 15, 1901. She grew up here and attended the local public and high schools, from which she graduated in 1917.

In the fall of 1917, Miss Driscoll entered Holy Names academy, Spokane, attending there one year. In 1918 she entered Washington State college, from which she graduated in 1921 with a B. A. degree in English. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, honorary scholastic fraternity.

Between the years 1921 and 1930, Miss Driscoll taught in the high schools of Ione and Toppenish, Wash., and Eureka, Mont. She entered Columbia university at New York in 1930 and was to have received her master’s degree in English in June.

The body was accompanied here by Miss Margaret Berrigan and the Rev. Father Berrigan of New York, relatives of Miss Driscoll.

Miss Driscoll was the daughter of the late J. C, Driscoll, who was in the mercantile business here and leader in democratic circles many years, She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Driscoll, Reardan; two sisters, Mrs, Katherine Nordale, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Miss Agnes Driscoll, Cle Elum, Wash.

Those in the car that killed Miss Driscoll are being held by the New York police.
