GIRLS’ GLEE CLUB

At the first meeting of the Girls’ Glee Club, the oldest organization of R. H. S., the following officers were elected:

President: Shirley Clayton

Vice President: Mary Paul

Secretary: Lois Hoffman

Sergeant-of-Arms: Catherine Thiemens

Advisor: Mr. Spencer.

Mr. Spencer also selected six girls from the glee club to form a sextet, they were; first sopranos, Betty Kelly, and Carol Hein; second sopranos, Audrey Lightle, and Marvel Jacobson; altos, Sally Landreth, and Glenna Landreth.

The spring concert was held April 14 in which the girls sang a number of favorites. On April 26 several students went to Odessa to participate in the solos. On April 30, the glee clubs and band also participated in the annual Bi-County music festival. The year was climaxed by the participation of the glee club in the Baccalaureate service.

At the Spring Concert the Girls Glee Club sang the following numbers:

  • Oh What a Beautiful Morning by Rodgers
  • When Day is Done by Katcher
  • Trees by Rasbach

A violin Solo was played by Miss Glenna Landreth.
