On Sept. 8, 1953, twenty-five freshmen timidly walked up the steps into Reardan High School.

We were initiated by the seniors on Sept. 25. It was an all day initiation. Each one of us came dressed accordingly as the seniors directed. At noon we were paraded down main street. In the evening we were really initiated. Officers for the freshman year were:

President: Dick Sherwood
Vice-president: Marjorie Wendlandt
Secretary: Marlene Bergeron
Treasurer: Karol Kelso
Council Rep.: Robert Backer
Annual reporter: Jerome Tierney

Class flower: Chrysanthemum
Class colors: Silver and Lavender
Class Motto: “Where There’s A Will, There’s A Way”

When school opened on “Sept. 7, 1955, twenty-seven sophomores enrolled. Sharon Ernst and Ed Sherwood did not return, but we gained Lila Lyons from Ford. Lila Lyons and Irene Gardiner dropped out later. Officers for this year are:

President: Robert Backer
Vice-president: Cherryl Jacobson
Secretary: Nancy Thiemens
Treasurers: Bill Mahrt
Council Rep.: Marjorie Wendlandt
Annual Rep.: Marlene Bergeron
Advisor: Mr. Reitz

On January 30, fourteen of us went sleigh ding near the Elwood Landt farm. Dinner was served by Marjorie Wendlandt at her home. Games ended the days fun.

The main event of the year was the class party held on the evening of April 1. The film "Mr. Winkle Goes to War" was shown. Nancy Thiemens and Cherry! Jacobson then led the group in some games. Dancing concluded the evening’s entertainment. Refreshments of punch and cookies were served.

The class was well represented in school activities. Four turned out for football, seven turned out for basketball, five for baseball, eight for band and four for tennis.
