Reardan’s Indian baseball team got off to a good start in league play, defeating both Wilbur and Davenport to rank in championship contention until Creston and Almira came along to knock out the props from under the 2-0 record.

In non-conference practice games, the Indians defeated Wellpinit twice and Odessa once while losing to North Central’s powerful second team twice and once to Odessa. This gave the team a record of five wins and five losses.

The boys hit fairly well, got good pitching in most of the games, but their fielding was far from flawless as the statistics bear out. Coach Steele used four freshmen, Ed Piper, first base, Bruce Tramn, third base, Erv Christensen, left field, and John Schultz, center field. Other freshmen also show promise, says Coach Steele, and their love for the game indicates that bright days are ahead in baseball for Reardan. Rounding out the starting lineup were Dwayne Paul, catcher, Glenn Atkinson, pitcher, Bob Mohr, second base, Wayne Blair, shortstop, and Bob Rogers, right field. Paul, Tramm and Schultz aided Atkinson with the pitching duties while Clair Jones and Paul Lillengreen gave reserve strength to the team.

CONGRATULATIONS!
