This Span Will Replace Old Detillion Bridge

Washington state highway department crews are working on new bridge, about a quarter of a mile downstream from the site of the historic Detillion bridge, recently smashed when oil truck ran into one end of it. The antiquated span later fell into the Spokane river. It is expected the new structure will provide one way traffic only as it will be a temporary affair. The bridge later must be built at a higher elevation on account of the Grand Coulee dam reservoir, which will back up the water beyond that point.
