Loses Thumb in Cogwheels.

REARDAN, Wash. Aug. 29.—While Will O'Hara was running an engine on the James McDowell place, eight miles from Reardan yesterday, his thumb was drawn into the gearing of revolving cogwheels and was badly torn and crushed. The young man rode into town with no further attention to the wound than to wrap it with a cloth, and at the Reardan hospital suffered the amputation of the injured member without taking anesthetics.
