Mattes Company Is Reorganized and

Plans Active Season.

REARDAN, Wash, Jan. 16.—The Mattes Lumber company of Reardan has been reorganized as the Chamokane Lumber company, with a paid in capital of $100,000, The majority of the stock has been subscribed by residents, although the largest stockholder is Joseph Mattes of Odebolt, Iowa, father of H. J. Mattes, secretary and treasurer of the new firm. The other officers are John Raymer, president, and M. Moriarty, vice-president. Considerable stock is held in Spokane and Seattle.

The holdings of the company consist of the local lumber yard, sawmill and boom on the Spokane river north of town and 23,000 acres of timber land on both sides of the Spokane river.

The mill has been improved and the boom enlarged until it has a storage capacity of 1,500,000 feet of logs. The company plans to manufacture about 4,000,000 feet of lumber the coming season.
