RUM SUSPECT ENDS LIFE AFTER CHASE


HANEY MYERS, ONE OF QUARTET APPREHENDED AT REARDAN, CHEATS OFFICERS—FATHER AND SON AND THIRD MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY DAVENPORT SHERIFF IN SUNDAY CLEANUP ALLEGED BOOTLEGGERS


Haney Myers, one of four men arrested at Reardan yesterday on liquor charges, committed suicide while the officers were search ing a barn. Myers was intoxicated when arrested.

Others arrested by Sheriff Kilpatrick of Davenport, with the assistance of Prohibition Agent H. S. McClure, were W. C. Oglesby and his son Earle, charged with operating a still, and Abner Johnson, charged with bootlegging.

Myers was a single man and was employed as a clothes cleaner by a Reardan tailor. He is sur vived by his mother and a brother.
