NEW BUILDING ON NORTH MONROE

A modern one-story building will be constructed at N717 Monroe, between College and Broadway, as soon as an old frame landmark, built 40 years ago, has been torn down and moved.

Howard J. Mattes, W427 Twenty-fourth, owner of the property, expects to spend $5000 on the new building, which he will rent, he said today, The old building, housing the College cafe, has been sold to R. M. Taylor, who is wrecking it for the lumber. The new structure will be of brick and concrete. Mr. Mattes has owned the property many years.
