WINNERS NAMED AT REARDAN DAY

Community Fete Brings $2000 for Clinic

REARDAN, Wash., June 10.-Former residents, those from neighboring communities joined with Reardan Saturday to celebrate the eighth annual Community day.

Riding in the parade in chauffeured cars were pioneers who had passed their 80th birthdays and hose who had celebrated their golden weddings. Those honored were Mrs. Mary Puls, Mrs, Katie Buchanan, Mrs. Annie Mihm, Mrs. Mary Barnard, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barnard, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hanning, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Clinton Mr. and Mrs, J. A. Ahlf, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Hein, Herman Schuls, W. H. Padley, S. H. Padley S. S. Bentley and Emil Polinski.

Following the parade all the activities were held on the school grounds, The general committee announced $2000 was netted from the day’s receipts to be used to retire the indebtedness on the Reardan Memorial clinic.

George L. Zwainz, master of ceremonies, gave the welcome address. Queen Donna Paul who was elected by popular vote was introduced and her court, Mary Bergeron, Joy Halverson, Sandra Childs, Nellie Howe and Marian Wendlandt.

Division A—Mondovi Grange, first; Spring Creek Grange, second; West Deep Creek Grange, third.

Division B--Deep Creek vacation Bible school, first; Rainbow girls, second; Reardan 4-H Garden club, third.

Division C—Colville garage, first; Nelson Cycle, second; Kelso Brothers, third.

Division D—Edwall Cub Scouts, first; German band, second.

The judges were Kenley Maurer, Editor Davenport Times-Tribune; Hilmer Axling, Spokane county agent, and Mrs. C. W. Richards, Davenport.

Children's pets, girls Sheryl Barnard, first; boys, Hal Johnson, first: Steve Garber, second; Gary. Wegner, third.

Children's vehicles, girls, Nancy Garber, first; Gail Johnson, second, and Mary Jane Fell, third; boys, Tommy Rux, first; Phil and Betty Holznagle, second; David Barnard, third.

Children, novelty, Janet Tam and Janet Dickie, first; Phil Naff, third.

Best matched pair, Dixie and Dianne Chamberland first; Dan Hardwick and Deral Emmerson, second.

Horses, the longest distance, Fred Mangis.

Shetlands and ponies, Barbara Faircloth, first; boys Neil Keizes, first; Jeffry Dunwal, second; Donald Williams, third.

Youngest rider—Paul Williams.

Judging the horses was M. W. McBride of the Northwest Livestock commission of Spokane.

New Attractions

New attractions were a flower show sponsored by the Reardan Home and Garden club, a hobby show and the amateur snapshot contest.

There were 172 entries in the horticulture division of the flower show, 57 arrangements and 18 junior entries. The judges were Mrs Charles Dellugge, Mrs. S. M. Baugh Mrs, Frank Volosing all of Spokane.

Winners in snapshot contest were Ona Brommer, first; Otto Wegner, second and Lewis McKay, third.

The grand prize, a steer went to Arthur Eigler. The days’ festivities ended with a dance in the evening.
