Fairgrounds Work Slated
OKANOGAN, Wash. — Plans are being made to spend the $8,000 state grant to the Okanogan County Fair on new buildings and improvements at the County Fairgrounds near here, fair Secretary Mrs. Cecil Tugaw reported Wednesday.
Mrs. Tugaw said the $8,000 included a $6,500 general grant and a $1,500 emergency grant.
The emergency grant was created by a 1963 fire which destroyed six barns on the fairgrounds. Four of the six were replaced with steel buildings last summer.
Fair directors are planning to build a new sheep and swine barn with part of this year's state grant. State funds come from the state para-mutual race track funds.
Fair directors have approved the appointment of Byron McClanahaan of Riverside as assistant fair manager. Homer Bryan is manager.
Bryan has requested all changes and insertions for the fair premium book be reported by the March 16 meeting of the board. Wally Vog of Brewster is in charge of the fair book.
