ASLEEP, HE CLAIMS, WHEN AUTO STOLEN
Alibi Offered in Police Court by Martin Denine—Case Continued.
The evidence in the case of Martin Denine, charged with the theft of the automobile of J. B. Tuttle Jr. from a home on Indiana avenue, near Division street, was heard in police court Monday. Judge Stocker reserved decision until today.
Denine testified that he was in bed at 9 o'clock on the night of the theft and introduced members of his family to sustain his alibi.
Ten days in the county jail was the sentence handed out to Roy Martin, who appeared on a charge of larceny. The prisoner admitted that he had taken a watch and some money from the pocket of a companion who was under the influence of liquor.
Roxey Garnett, a colored soldier from Fort Wright, was fined $100 and costs for larceny: Policeman McCloskey arrested Garnett for going through a drunken man’s pockets.
