Lavina Anderson Weds The Rev. Father W. J. Druffel at Davenport last night named Miss Lavina Anderson daughter of Mrs. Anna Anderson and the late George Anderson of Waukon and Corporal Stanley Swanson, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Swanson of Waukon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Shearer of Espanola wee the couple's only attendants. Mrs. Swanson is a graduate of the high school and the bridegroom attended the Edwall schools.

Mrs. Stanley Swanson received word from her husband, Corporal Swanson, that he is now stationed in England. He is with the signal corps of the army and is attached to the artillery. He received most of his training at Fort Jackson, S. C., where he was an expert marksman for the rifle, carbine and machine gun. Corporal Swanson has been in the service since December 1942.

Mrs. Stanley Swanson received word Friday that her husband, Corporal Stanley Swanson, was in France. He is with the army signal corps and has been stationed in England for several months. He said he was well, but very busy.

Corporal Stanley Swanson writes his wife, he is now serving in Belgium. He says he is living in a partly demolished chateau and that it isn't very warm, because the fuel is scarce. Cpl. Swanson also stated he passed through Brest in France.

Corporal Stanley Swanson writes his wife from the western front that has been tough going and that there is little time to write and when they do, the letter is written on their knees. He also said they only had "regular chow" on Christmas and many didn't have anything to eat.

Corporal Stanley Swanson writes his wife that he entered Germany on March 8. He is with the Third army and says they are moving fast. He entered the service in November 1942 and is with the signal corps.

Corporal Stanley Swanson writes his wife that he is in Germany with Patton's army and going so fast he has little time to write. He said he saw a concentration camp and the atrocities we read about and hear about are not exaggerations, but facts, and hoped he didn't have to see another. He wrote the Germans have few horses left to plant their crops using mainly oxen and, in some places, cows.

Corporal Stanley Swanson wrote his wife that he has been moved from the 3rd army to the 9th and is stationed at Weimen [Weimar?], Germany, a town about 100 miles west of Dresden on a superhighway. The censorship has been lifted and he gave an interesting account of his experiences from the time he left the states through D-Day.

Corporal Stanley Swanson writes his wife he has been moved from Wiemar to Munich, Germany, where he met George Manke of Wilbur, who entered the service the same day Cpl. Swanson did. He has been in the service 32 months. 18 of which have been in Europe. He landed in France on D-Day and wears five battle stars. He has recently been transferred to the Third Army.

Corporal Stanley W. Swanson arrived in New York Thursday from Germany. He phoned his wife, Lavina, from New Jersey on Friday, and this is the first word she had from him in over nine weeks. He expects his discharge at Fort Lewis this week.
