Superintendent of Schools

A position demanding keen foresight and judgment; denial personality, and leadership ability demeanor is that of Superintendent of Schools.


The gentleman on the opposite page who fulfills these qualifications and serves in the above mentioned capacity for the Reardan Schools is Mr. Lewis W. McKay.

Since his arrival as superintendent in the Fall of 1948, Mr. McKay has done much to help the local schools take forward strides in educational progress. Versatile in ability and possessing a sincere interest in people. Mr. McKay's progressive spirit prompts his activity in community affairs as well as educational affairs. He is a member of the Reardan Lions' Club, a vary constructive organization, and. serves as secretary of Board of Directors.

Mr. McKay has received his education at the University of Idaho and the State College of Washington, graduating with a B.S. and M.S. degrees in music education.

Gentlemen who serve on the Rearden School Board devote their time and energies without compensation for the most worth while purpose and enterprise of our American culture—the educational institution.

Student Council

The purpose of the Student Council is to provide unity and co-operation of the pupils and faculty in all the activities of the school, to develop the spirit ideal, and practice of good citizenship in school, to provide a means of adequate government and management of all extracurricular activities, to promote the general welfare of Reardan High School, its good name and reputation, and its possibilities for the achievement of its purpose, to bring about equality and justice to all pupils, in the benefits and responsibilities of student life, and to provide a satisfactory means of carrying on relations with other schools and business relations of the pupils organizations.

The duties of council are to grant charters to clubs and organizations of the school, to have charge of all financial matters pertaining to extracurricular activities, investigate and report on all matters referred to it by the superintendent, the faculty, or the student body, to make recommendations to the student body on any point thought desirable for the school welfare, and to authorize the president to appoint any committees thought desirable for any responsibilities with the council sees fit.
