Senior Class History

In September of 1938, a group of little half-scared kids entered the doors of Reardan Grade School clinging to the skirts of their mothers.

A year later, we ventured on to the second grade, and it was then that Richard Stuhlmiller joined us. He transferred from Trinidad, Washington, where he attended the first grade.

In the third grade, we gained a new member, Earl Oehlschlaeger. He transferred from Connell, Washington.

Iva May Atkinson joined us in the sixth grade. Mary Ann and Helen Good from the Washington School in Spokane, started the school year with us.

Verdella Haeger left us to go to California during the eighth grade.

Again a bunch of shaking, "green" freshmen entered the doors of Reardan High School in September of 1946. There were several new members: Charles Klaus, Doris Reynolds, Elwood Howe, Howard Kelly, and Gay Powell.

Officers of the freshman class were: President—Gay Powell, Vice- President—Marvin Carstens, Secretary—Sally Landreth, Treasurer—Howard Kelly, Student Council Representative—Richard Stuhlmiller, Class Advisor—Miss Raymer.

During the year, Gay Powell transferred to Grangeville, Idaho. Doris Reynolds moved away at the close of the year. Charles Klaus started his sophomore year at Medical Lake.

We chose, as our class colors, blue and gold. Our class flower was the white carnation. Our motto “In Ourselves Our Future Lies" was chosen. In October, we were led to the "slaughter" house for our initiation by the seniors.

In 1947, we entered high school as confident sophomores. We started out with three new faces: Charles Franklin of Springdale, Dorothy and Leslie Green. Verdella Haeger rejoined us. Later in the year, Patsy Piper transferred from Lewis and Clark of Spokane.

The officers for the year were: President—Harold Krupke, Vice- President—Iva Atkinson, Secretary—Helen Good, Treasurer—Sally Landreth, Student Council Representative—Jerry Owens, Class Advisor—Miss Raymer.

We closed our sophomore year with a successful all-high party.

As juniors we were famous and gained unknown fame for our success in social and athletic life. The greatest share of the R.H.S. basketball team consisted of juniors.
