CONGRATULATIONS, TEAM, COACH - !

It takes lots of hard work, determination, and competitive spirit to win a championship. Coach Steele and his boys are to be congratulated for their very fine performances and their record this season. They now have earned the right to play Lind, Adams County winner, for the Bi-County championship. A win over Lind would mean a chance for the District Championship.

Playing in the championship game were (in order of batting): Anyan, ss; B. Rogers, cf; Owens, c; Schulz, p; Stuhlmiller, 1b; Atkinson, 3b; Miller, If; Blair, 2b; Paul, rf.

Other members of the team are Earl Oehlschlaeger, Paul Lillengreen, Don Clayton, Daryl Rogers, Carl Rogers, Wayne Delzer, Charles Ander- son, Cla Jones, Bernard Thiemens, Bob Franklin, and Dan Plaster, manager.

Congratulations, team and coach, for your splendid work!

Tennis

For the first time in a number of years, Reardan High had an organized team of girls and boys tennis players this spring.

At the date of this writing, one practice meet with Sprague has been played, Reardan winning but one of six matches, nevertheless playing very well for beginners who had no previous interscholastic experience. Donna Stark, participating as Reardan's number one singles entry in the girls division, won her match easily, 6-1 and 6-2. Others playing in the meet were Anna Stark, number two girls’ singles entry, Marilou Kamm and Helen Lightle, girls’ doubles, Harold Krupke, boys’ singles, Frank Nonnemacher and Charles Franklin, boys’ doubles, and Audrey Lightle and Don Mann, mixed doubles.

At present there are 27 girls and 11 boys out for the tennis program under the direction of Mr. Weitz. An interesting school tournament has been drawn up and all players are participating.

Tennis provides the girls, as well as the boys, with an opportunity to participate in interscholastic sports. Judging by this season's crop of enthusiasts and the fine progress made by the players thus far, Reardan has taken one big step toward a very prospective faite in tennis.
