BASKETBALL

Left to right: Mr. Walter Johnson, Coach, Norman Clouse, Vernon Rogers, John Schultz, Bruce Tramm, Gerald Brommer, Frank Nonnemacher, Clair Jones, Paul Lillengreen, Ronnie Ahlf, Jimmy Clayton.

Congratulations, Mr. Johnson, for the fine job you did this year and in past years to help make basketball what it is in Reardan today. Your efforts have been appreciated by the community and also by the student body. The trophies we now have in our trophy case will be a memorial to you and your efforts in our behalf.

This year twenty-two boys turned out for basketball. Nine were Freshmen, six were Sophomores, three were Juniors and four were Seniors.

The first ten, or the “A” squad as they are known, consisted of players from all four classes. The first squad consisted of:

FRANK NONNEMACHER, a senior, who favored the team by his height as well as being able to control the backboard.

CLAIR JONES, a senior, and a man who did an excellent job of holding down the position as a forward.

PAUL LILLENGREEN, also another senior and a guard on the team. Paul was able to score and at the same time to keep the opponents score down.

BRUCE TRAMM, who worried the opponents aplenty by displaying some of his fine long shots and by his ability to get rebounds.

GERALD BROMMER was able to help control the backboard and was able to use his height to advantage.

JOHNNY SCHULTZ, another potential threat to the opposing teams, was able to handle his position as a forward in fine shape.

NORMAN CLOUSE still has plenty of speed and an eye for hitting the basket.

JIMMY CLAYTON, a hard one to guard against. A little short, but lots of speed.

RONNIE AHLF, a freshman, who shows plenty of promise, should make a good forward in his next years of ball playing.

VERNON ROGERS, another freshman who has plenty of ability and will be a threat to any opposing team.

We would also like to give recognition to the basketball managers, namely, Charles Anderson, Lloyd Tremer and Mike Bisson, These boys worked hard in performing their duties.

A summary of this years basketball activities will fall into five different groups, namely, Conference and non-conference games, the Lions Club Christmas Tournament, The Bi-County Play-offs, the District Tournament and the State Tournament,
