SECOND TEAM BASKETBALL

Back row, left to right: Mr. Stimpson, Coach; Neil Schmitt, Bill Zunker, Bill Hein, Paul Carstens, Tom Schultz, Mickey Hadley, Norman Fiess, Manager. Front row, left ot right: Ralph Rhoads, Jimmy Hendrix, Marvin Willms, Rodger Hein, Robert Backer, Leonard McConnell, Jack Lavender, Manager.

The second team or “B” squad of fourteen members contained one senior, two juniors, six sophomores and five freshmen. Two members of the second team also played as substitutes for the first team. All of these boy’s aspire to make the “A” squad.

By having a second team more boys are given an opportunity to participate in basketball. The second team is also a training base for candidates for the first team.

This year the second team played sixteen games, winning nine and losing seven, which means they won more than fifty percent of the games played.

The team defeated at least once each of the second teams represented in the Bi-County League. This means that we have good material available for future years, as members of the second team will replace the graduates.

The more difficult games were played against Fairfield, Davenport and Almira. The second team took easy wins over Edwall, Wilbur and Creston. The second games preceded the first team games.

A summary of games played and other statistics are found on the next page.
