He said he saw a concentration camp and the atrocities we read about and hear about are not exaggerations, but facts, and hoped he didn't have to see another. He wrote the Germans have few horses left to plant their crops using mainly oxen and, in some places, cows.

Corporal Stanley Swanson wrote his wife that he has been moved from the 3rd army to the 9th and is stationed at Weimen [Weimar?], Germany, a town about 100 miles west of Dresden on a superhighway. The censorship has been lifted and he gave an interesting account of his experiences from the time he left the states through D-Day.

Corporal Stanley Swanson writes his wife he has been moved from Wiemar to Munich, Germany, where he met George Manke of Wilbur, who entered the service the same day Cpl. Swanson did. He has been in the service 32 months. 18 of which have been in Europe. He landed in France on D-Day and wears five battle stars. He has recently been transferred to the Third Army.
