[Robert Poole was unlikely a member of the Reardan community, but was a nephew of the community.]
May 27, 1943 Davenport Times-Tribune
Mrs. John Surber received word that her nephew, Robert Poole, of Minneapolis, Minn., was killed aboard a destroyer in the south Pacific on May 5. He had been in the service fourteen months and was a radioman first class, and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota.
[Mrs. Surber is a Poole, can't find much information about her brothers. Found a burial in Minnesota for wrong date, s/o Norman Poole. Can't find destroyers sank May 1943, so he may have just been killed on board]
