Harl Barnard and Elwood Wendlandt, who were with the government geological survey near San Diego, California arrived home Christmas eve. This work has been discontinued because of the war.

Elwood Wendlandt, who enlisted with the Seabees with the U.S. navy, writes his mother, Mrs. [Oran] Robinson, that he was sent from Seattle to Camp Allen, Norfolk, Virginia.

Elwood Wendlandt, third class petty officer, in the Seabees, arrived here Monday for a three-week furlough with with his mother, Mrs. Oran Robinson. Elwood has been in the service since November 1942 and has been in Newfoundland since June. After the completion of his furlough he will report to Camp Endicott, R. I., for further orders. He is a graduate of the local high school.

Elwood Wendlandt, petty officer third class, returned to his base at Camp Endicott, R. I., on Saturday. He has been here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Robinson, and for the past six months, he was stationed in Newfoundland.

Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Robinson entertained at dinner on Thursday night in honor of their son, Elwood Wendlandt, petty officer third class of the Seabees. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Kelso and daughter Diane, of Oroville, Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Nye, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Heldstab and daughter, Joyce, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Howard and daughters, Nadine and Marilyn, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Bauman and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Clinton.

Robinson, that he has been assigned to a motor squadron and is attending a mortar school. He has been in the service since November 1942. He is a graduate of the local high school.

Elwood Wendlandt, third class petty officer with the Seabees, Writes is mother that he landed in southern England on July 2. He likes England very much and had mail waiting for him when he arrived. He said that when the boat left, the Red Cross gave them cigarettes and other articles and upon arriving in port, the Red Cross was there again with coffee and doughnuts. He is the son of Mrs. [Oran] Robinson and is a graduate of the local high school. He also was stationed in [Newfoundland] for about six months.

November 2, 1944 Davenport Times-Tribune

Elwood A. Wendlandt, carpenters mate second class with the Seabees, writes his mother, Mrs. Oran Robinson, he has been moved from England to France.

December 7, 1944 Davenport Times-Tribune

Elwood Wendlandt, son of Mrs. Oran Robinson, who is with the Seabees, writes that he has been sent from France to England, and that Don Hein and he spend a weekend together. Hein learned of Wendlandt's location through the Red Cross. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Hein.

Carpenter mate second class Elwood Wendlandt writes his mother, Mrs. Oran Robinson, he is located at Breman, Germany. He is with the Seabee group and went overseas a year ago. He has been in England, Holland, Belgium, France and Germany.

Elwood Wendlandt, carpenters mate third class, with the Seabees, came Friday on a thirty-day leave. He has been in the service two years and went overseas 15 months ago. He was in England, France, Holland, Belgium, and Germany. He was graduated from Reardan high school and was employed in Spokane where he entered the service. C. M. Wendlandt is the son of Mrs. Oran Robinson. While on leave he will marry Miss Phyllis Hein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Hein.

September 20, 1945 Davenport Times-Tribune

Elwood Wendlandt, with the Seabees, who recently spent a 30-day furlough here after returning to Europe, was transferred from Bremerton to a camp in Rhode Island. He is the son of Mrs. Oran Robinson. His wife resides in Spokane.

Carpenter's Mate 2/c Elwood Wendlandt of the Seabees received his discharge October 21 on his birthday, at Minneapolis, Minn. He entered the service in Nov., 1942, serving eight months in Newfoundland and 18 months in England, France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. He is a graduate of the Reardan high school. He is the son of Mrs. Oran Robinson and his wife, Phyllis, lives in Spokane where they will make their home for the present.
