Harold Proff
Harold Proff was born November 29, 1914. He graduated from North Central high school in Spokane in 1932 and went to the University of Minnesota. He was working at the Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan at the time of his induction. He was captured by the Japanese during the Fall of the Philippines in early 1942.

Three More Safe OLYMPIA, Oct. 19.--Three Olympians have been reported released from Japanese prison camps. They are Sgt. Benjamin D. McIntyre, whose sister, Mrs. Grace E. Hartz, lives at 132 North Thomas street; Pvt Edward A. Sergeant,son of Fred Sergeant, Rt. 3, and Lt. Harold P. Proff, son of Mrs. J. W. Graler, Rt. 3.

Tells of Prison Life The Dr. Harold Proff mentioned in the articles of the [Achille Tisdelle Story Of Japanese POW Life] of the prisoners of Bataan, that appeared in the Spokesman-Review recently, is a nephew of Mrs. Anna [Phillip] Hein [and cousin of Zinnia Zwainz]. He attended the Gravelle school one year while making his home with his aunt. Dr. Proff is now being hospitalized in Manila.
He married Virginia Cole November 62, 1946. Dr. Proff died January 3, 1960 at age 46 of a heart attack. He lived the last 12 years of his life near his father's farm in Olympia.]
