Appeals From Costly Verdicts
San Francisco, March 20,—{Special,|—The Northern Pacific company has filed appeals in the federal court of appeals against two decisions rendered by the United States circuit court of Washington. In the first case Charles Smith sued for $25,000 damages for injuries received in a collision near Weston, Wash, and the jury gave him $8,000, In the case of Thomas J, Richmond, by his guardian, William Richmond, sued for $50,000 for injuries received while working in the railroad company’s coal mine in Roslyn, Wash, The jury gave him an $5,000 verdict.
