BUYS RIGHT OF WAY FOR GREAT NEW POWER LINE

W. W. P. Co. Buys Strip Thirty-two Miles Long, Spokane to Little Falls.

For a right of way for a modern electric power transmission line, the Washington Water Power Company is negotiating and securing contracts for the purchase of a stripe of land 32 miles long and 200 feet wide throughout nearly its entire length, extending from the company's new power plant at Little Falls, on the Spokane River to the power station on Twenty-ninth avenue in this city. The Right of way part of which has been secured already, will comprise nearly 800 acres or land.

The new transmission line which is to to be constructed at enormous expense, is to be of the latest design and will furnish a never-failing supply of power from the auxiliary plant at Little Falls to the present lines of company. The wires are to be of aluminum and strung on steel towers to be erected on the right of way, 500 feet apart on the level ground and closer together where the wires are carried over an elevation. These towers are to rest on concrete foundations.

Three at Each Station.

When the line is fully completed there will be three of these towers at each station, securely fastened together with steel braces. Since each tower is 30 feet wide at the base, the three towers Will occupy a place at each station 90 feet in width, A roadway is to be constructed in the right of way and pole lines are also to be put up, hence the necessity for a 200-foot right of way.

It was stated at the office of the Washington Water Power company today that work on the auxiliary plant at Little Falls is progressing rapidly and it is believed that it will be ready to be put in operation as soon as the transmission line to this city is constructed.
