Reuben Bowers, the Mecklenburg aviator, who distinguish&d himself with 30 consecutive successful flights in the new headless flying machine, lies at the point of death at the Harrington hospital as the result of a recent operation for appendicitis. His illness necessitated the cancellation of his engagement to fly at the Lincoln county pioneers’ picnic last week.

Bowers was taken down a week ago last Saturday, according to his manager, Mr. Mecklenburg, and Monday underwent an operation.

Mr. Mecklenburg stated that in the event he is unable to secure the services of Bowers in the near future to demonstrate his new aircraft, he will enlist the services of some other successful birdman. Mecklenburg lives at Creston, Wash.,, and Bower's home is at Mohler, Wash.
