MONTHLY CREAM CHECKS WELCOME

Seem More Attractive at Reardan Than Those Received Annually for Wheat.

REARDAN, Wash., April 1,—The. establishment of a cream station which would monthly pass tons of cream from the dairy farms in the vicinity of Reardan, is being investigated ‘by a committee of Reardan business men composed of H. J. Mattes, G. H. Finrow and J. N. Kelso, who were the committee which investigated the merits of a cheese factory, finally dropping the plan because of better profits to be derived from shipping of the cream.

"The increase in the dairy business of the Reardan country in the last two years combined with the future prospects of the growing industry, has made it advisable that the farmers seek some other and more profitable outlet for their product than in cheese or home butter making," said H. J. Mattes. "The farmers who have shipped cream to Spokane have found it profitable and the day is not far off when Spokane consumers will be using tons of Reardan cream, the best in the land. By shipping the cream the farmers are able to retain the skimmed milk for the hogs, and business men as well as farmers are beginning to appreciate the monthly cream checks instead of the annual wheat check.”
