LONG LAKE SLOWLY RISING
Not Sufficiently Deep to Float LaPray Bridge Yet.
C. F. Uhden, chief engineer of the Washington Water Power company, returned from Long Lake Friday night and said yesterday that the water is gradually going outside of the river banks, but that there is not much of a lake formed as yet.
“The water is now two feet deep over the old road to Spokane on the Spokane side of the LaPray bridge and is up to the floor beams of the structure,” said Mr, Uhden. “Another five feet rise will be caused in about 10 days,
“Work is progressing nicely on the power house station and the brick work is about up on half of the building. Brick work will begin on the other half of the building about March 1.”
City Bridge Superintendent John J. MeCormick, who is engaged in an effort to save the LaPray bridge for the park board, returned from Long lake last night and said that while the water was washing the bridge it had not come up high enough to float the two spans under which rafts have been built.
