YARDLEY TO MAKE AIRPLANES FOR UNCLE SAM

Here are shown front and side views of the United States army training plane which will be manufactured at Yardley by Martin Denine and his associates. This is the standardized army plane, on which aero manufacturers all over the United States are concentrating their efforts.

The plane is equipped with a 90-horsepower motor, and will make from 45 to 90 miles an hour. Double padded cockpits and dual control with elaborate safety devices make the plane as nearly foolproof as possible.

In planes such as these, Uncle Sam's aviators will be trained for duty in France. Just how many will be trained here is problematical and will depend to some extent upon the number of trainers and planes available locally. ‘Deb’ Wylie will act as the first instructor in this section, according to the plans of the factory.

Each of these machines will set Uncle Sam back from $13,000 to $18,000.
