PAVELICH GIVEN—TERM IN PRISON
Convicted Jointist Handed Two and One-Half Years in State Penitentiary.
John Pavelich, convicted as a jointist last November, was sentenced to serve from two and a half to five years in the state penitentiary at Walla Walla by Superior Judge R. M. Webster, who denied him a new trial today.
Mike Kallifat, Mike Komich and Bill Mason, convicted with Pavelich, were each sentenced to serve from one to five years in the state prison on similar charges.
Pavelich was convicted last fall on another jointist charge and is under sentence of from one to five years on this conviction, which ts now on appeal to the supreme court. Notice of appeal from the conviction of all of the four was given.
Won One Victory.
Last week a habitual criminal charge against Pavelich was dismissed by Judge Webster.
The four men sentenced today were arrested last fall by police officers in a raid on a downtown soft drink parlor.
Four years ago Pavelich was acquitted of manslaughter in connection with the death of Dr. Green, after cars driven by the physician and Pavelich had collided at Fourth avenue and Division street.
An appeal bond of $2500 was ordered by the court for Pavelich and $1500 for each of the other defendents,
