FIND GOOD COAL NEAR DAVENPORT
Several projects for the production of coal in the district along the Spokane river north of Reardan and Davenport are reported.
M. B. Runyan of Spokane has men developing two coal deposits, and the Sand Creek Coal and Coke company is doing the same in another locality.
"I have five men running a tunnel, which is already in 160 feet, to open a coal bed in Hartley canyon, 12 miles north of Davenport," said Mr, Runyan today. “This work is uncovering four feet of good coal.
"My other project is on Spring creek, 13 miles north of Reardan.
"The coal in both places is a good grade of fuel coal."
On the north side of the river in Stevens county the Sand Creek Coal and Coke company holds leases on 6060 acres, 22 miles north of Davenport. Fifty tons have been taken out and used by citizens in towns of that vicinity. The company plans extensive development.
Both companies expect to truck coal into Spokane.
