TRAGEDY WRECKS, WEDDING PLANS
Hartline Woman and Son-in-Law-to-Be Die in Skid.
REARDAN, Wash., Dec. 15.—Mrs. Marthe Hansen and Cornellius Wettenberg, both of Hartline, Wash., were killed instantly about 10 a. m. today, when the car in which they were riding skidded on ice four miles west of here on a curve west of the Edwall crossroad.
Accompanying Mrs. Hansen and Mr. Wetterberg was Miss Lois Hansen, daughter of Mrs. Hansen and fiancee of Mr. Wettenberg. The three were on their way to Spokane, where Mr. Wettenberg and Miss Hansen were to have been married today.
Soon after the car had skidded off the highway and turned over on its left side, Deputy Sheriff Ray Kurtz, on his way from Davenport to Reardan, stopped and assisted in removing the bodies of Mrs. Hansen and Mr. Wettenberg and in taking them to Davenport.
Miss Hansen was brought to the. Reardan hospital, where Dr. Reinking gave first aid. She was not injured seriously, but suffered greatly from shock.
Mr. Hansen, husband of the woman killed and father of Lois, is employed at the Grand Coulee dam site.
