High Dam Will Submerge His Home

When the high dam is built at the Coulee, Gib Detillion will have to move. For 40 years he has lived at the Detillion bridge, named after him, some 40 miles down the Spokane river where the highway between Davenport and Hunters crosses the stream. The bridge has been there a long time, but he has been there much longer than the bridge. The high dam will raise the water 80 feet over the bridge and will wipe out the Detillion house a few feet up the bank. This picture of Mr. and Mrs. Detillion four years ago by a passing Chronicle man, Since then Mrs. Detilllion has died. The Detillion bridge has been a central Washington landmark and historic point. It must yield to progress.
