DRINKS SERVED BEFORE ACCIDENT

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho, Oct. 13.—(Special,)—After presenting two witnesses this morning, the State ended its case against George Watson, truck driver, charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of William Manion, 44, Spokane.

John Pavelich, Smelterville bar tender, told of serving beer to Watson and Manion some hours before the fatal accident. On cross-examination, he said the place was | crowded and he did not know, whether Watson drank the beer.

B. W. Rhodes testified Watson and Manion went to a room in a Kellogg hotel and ordered drinking glasses. He did not see liquor and could not say there had been any drinking.

Following the opening of the trial Tuesday, W. B., McCartney, night jailer, said Watson and his wife went to the sheriff's office at 4:45 o'clock on the morning Manion was found dead following a wreck west of here. He said he smelled liquor on Watson's breath.

Sheriff S. J. McMillan told of receiving a telephone call from Watson at 6 a.m. The latter said: “I found that man and believe he is dead.” Under cross-examination, the sheriff said Watson walked and talked normally, but “may have been pale.”
