Detillion Bridge to Be Replaced to Beat Flood

About half way between Spokane and the Grand Coulee dam, the Detillion bridge spans the Spokane river, offering a short route to the Columbia river, over an excellent highway. The water is already backing up behind the dam, and within the next two years will have inundated the Detillion bridge under something like 100 feet of water, and shoved on up the Spokane river to the foot of Little Falls. The removal of this bridge and the construction of a longer, more costly bridge to span the man-made lake, together with the alignment of the highway to avoid the high water, is one of the minor engineering feats facing the bureau of reclamation.
