Three Spokane Girls Win Musical Honors

June Foote, Mary Rita Cowell and Sylvia Lou Newton, all of Spokane, won top honors in yesterday’s music festival contests in the Masonic temple. They rated “superior with honors” and thus will be among those to be presented by the festival association in young artist recitals April 14, 21 and 28.

Of the half a hundred contestants, 11 others rated “superior” on the national music educators’ rating sheet. They were: Mary Laudwein, Louise Alger, Kenneth Moore, Patrick Wilson and Joyce Rowan, all of Spokane; Evelyn Gutschmidt and Loyee Squires, Wilbur; Mary Lou Lempesis and Wayne Squires, Metaline; Doris and Betty Lohr, Ione.
