High Water Puts Detillion Bridge Out of Commission

Detillion bridge is just about under water in the Spokane river, due to the Columbia river run-off and the backwater from Grand Coulee dam. The state highway department piled its deck with gravel to hold it in place and hopes 25 feet of water on top of it will not wash it out. On the opposite side, part of state highway No. 22 is seen and the old Zeb Detillion farm. The area eventually will be permanently under water. This is the temporary timber bridge that has served traffic over the river since the steel structure collapsed about a year ago.
