STATE SUES FOR LOSS OF DETILLION BRIDGE
Because a trailer got loose from a truck and knocked the old Detillion bridge into the Spokane river a year ago, the state of Washington filed suit Wednesday in superior court to collect $5000 damages from T. L. Cunningham, owner of the truck and trailer, and Dan Coughlin, driver.
The complaint states the bridge was built in 1909, and that on May 18, 1939, when Coughlin was driving the truck and trailer over it, the trailer got loose, battered the plates and main supports of the bridge and weakened it so it became out plumb and dropped into the river.
