Reardan’s Community Day Attracts Large Turnout
REARDAN, Wash., June 7.—Almost 1000 people, former residents and persons from the surrounding communities, joined forces to make Reardan’s 12th annual Community day a success.
The day's activities began with a street parade. The American Legion color guard led the procession followed by the high school band, majorettes, children pets and vehicles, floats, horses and riders.
Special cars carried persons who had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary or had reached their 80th year.
W. J. Colville, chairman of the Community day, crowed Phyllis Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Meyer, as queen. She was sponsored by West Deep Creek Grange. Her court included Beverly Sobeck, Waukon, and Janice Hendrix and Gwen Janett, both of Reardan.
The Davenport-Reardan Junior Legion baseball team played the Cheney Junior Legion team and won with a score of Reardan- Davenport, 5, and visitors, 4.
A talent program was held in the evening, including instrumental, vocal and dancing numbers. An Indian dancing group came from Wellpinit. The four best numbers selected were by Joan Janett, Dennis Bogart, Robert Wassum and a mixed quartet, Cherryl Jacobson, Verla Dicky, Jerome Tierney and Bill Mahrt.
