WAGNER, George
George Richard Wagner was born on April 21, 1930 in Spokane, WA. He passed away November 2, 2010, at his lifetime home located southeast of Reardan, WA. George attended school in Reardan and upon graduation in 1948, began farming. He served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic in the Chicago area. He met his wife, Audrey, an Australian import, who was visiting her sister in Reardan. They were married on Christmas Eve, 1954. Together they farmed at Reardan and had three children, Rodger, Jennifer and Jeff. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Audrey, son Rodger and wife Jennie, and son Jeff and wife Deanna. He is also survived by six grandchildren Brad and JoLynn Ray, Ian and Rychelle Wagner, Chelsea, Jarrod and Grant Wagner. He has one great-granddaughter, Amelia Ray. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen, parents Richard and Amelia Wagner, and daughter Jennifer.
George was a dedicated third generation farmer, working the land his grandfather Adolph settled in 1890. When not working on the farm, he was busy managing his apartment house in Spokane. Not a man of many hobbies, he liked to have coffee with his fellow “problem solvers’ at Dean’s Drive-in and work in his shop. While his children were growing up, he was an active Livestock 4-H leader and enjoyed the Junior Livestock Show. He supported his children and grandchildren through the years as they exhibited livestock at the show. He was an active participant in the Reardan Presbyterian Church.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Reardan Presbyterian Church, Reardan, WA with Pastor Bill Ward, officiating.
