Reardan Home Guard Pay Tribute to Corporal G. C. Pickett.


REARDAN. Wash., July 18.--The funeral of Corporal G. C. Pickett. who died from pneumonia at Fort Worden July 13, was held in Reardan Tuesday. The body was accompanied from Spokane by a detail of soldiers from Fort Wright. The Davenport home guards attended and Senator Charles E. Meyers, a member of the company, read the burial service and delivered an address. The members of the regular army fired three volleys as the casket was lowered and the bugler sounded the last call.

Corporal G. C. Pickett was a member of Battery B, 69th regiment coast artillery. He was born at Cresco, Iowa, in 1898. He enlisted in the coital artillery May 20, 1917, and was raised to the rank of corporal. He was married on February 14, 1918 to Miss Irene Davis of Seattle. Besides his widow he leaves his father and mother, a brother and two sisters, one of them being Mrs. Ralph Sullivan of Reardan.
