Mexican Expedition

After Pancho Villa invaded the town of Columbus, New Mexico, General Pershing organized a force to cross the border and capture Pancho Villa. Although this lasted between March 14, 1916 and February 7, 1917, Pancho Villa was never captured. This effort is now officially called the Mexican Expedition. The following are postcards believed to have been collected by Joseph Carlson when stationed as a cook at Fort Huachuca, New Mexico during World War I. They show life on both sides of the border including both horse powered military and the introduction of trucks and tanks into modern warfare.
