[John Stevenson graduated from Fairfield, Washington High School. The R. O. Stevenson family moved to Reardan sometime between 1938 and 1940 and are cousins of the Thomas Stevenson family that built the main brick building in downtown Reardan.]

Mrs. R. O. Stevenson returned Friday from La Junta, Colo., where she saw her son, John Stevenson, receive his wings and commission as a second lieutenant. He is a reserve officer in the army air corps and a pilot on a medium bomber.

Young People Married at Davenport July 4
Announcement is made of the marriage on Sunday, July 4 of Miss Patricia Mahoney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Mahoney of Reardan, and Lt. John R. Stevenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Stevenson of Espanola. They were married in Davenport by the Rev. Father Druffel at a double ring ceremony. Mrs. John [Loretta] Conrad, sister of the bride, and Jerry Stevenson, brother of the bridegroom were the attendants. Mrs. Stevenson is a graduate of the Reardan high school and is attending the Sacred heart school of nursing in Spokane, where she will continue her training. Lt. Stevenson attended Gonzaga university and is now stationed with the army air forces in Greenville, S. C. He left for his camp Wednesday, July 7.

Lt. John Stevenson writes his parents that he has been transferred from Brazil to West Africa, but will soon be on his way again. Lt. Stevenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Stevenson, is an army pilot.

Lt. John Stevenson arrived Tuesday from Chanute Field, Ill., to visit his wife, the former Patricia Mahoney, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevenson. Lt. Stevenson, his wife and parents went to Klamath Falls, Ore., to visit with his brother, Marine Private Jerry Stevenson, who is being hospitalized at the marine hospital there. They report that his condition has not improved. Lt. Stevenson left Wednesday for Enid, Okla., where he will receive a new assignment. He is a veteran flyer with 70 missions over Europe.
[His birth date suggests he should have been in the class of 1938. His obituary says he was born at Reardan, but graduated from Fairfield, WA where the family was farming. Some time between his graduation and 1940, Ray Ogle Stevenson and family moved back to Reardan to farm. His father, Ogle, owned the half section south of the West Deep Creek Grange Hall by 1912 and died in 1936. Ogle was a son of John Edwin Stevenson, a brother of Thomas Stevenson, who homesteaded southeast of Reardan and built the brick buildings in downtown Reardan. Thomas and John Edwin immigrated from Quebec, Canada. Ray Ogle was born in Washington state in 1892 (probably near Tacoma) Thomas. married Emma Tramm in 1896 in Reardan.
John remained in the service attaining the rank of Colonel and retired in 1970. He and his wife Pat are buried in Reardan.]
[Robert Reitz, who served as the Lutheran minister in Reardan in the early 1950's, grew up in Fairfield and would have been in the class of 1939. He married Doris Plaster.]
