[The Stevenson family (Ray, Maude, John, Gerald "Jerry", and Elizabeth "Betty") moved from Fairfield to Reardan some time between 1938 and 1940. They are cousins to the Thomas Stevenson family that homesteaded here and built the main brick building in downtown Reardan.]

Marine Private Jerry Stevenson spent from Monday until Friday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevenson. He just finished his "boot training" at the marine base in San Diego and said he had been assigned to a sea school there. He enlisted about two months ago.

Marine Private Gerald Stevenson has completed his sea school at San Diego and has been sent to Treasure Island at San Francisco. Lt. John R. Stevenson, with the air corps stationed at Corsica, writes that he has just completed 25 missions over enemy territory. The boys are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Stevenson and are graduates of the local high school.

Marine Private first class Gerald Stevenson writes his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevenson, he is being moved to a hospital ship because of a back ailment. Gerald went overseas last May and has been in combat. He is a graduate of the Reardan high School.

Gerald Stevenson, a marine who spent ten months in the Pacific and participated in five major battles, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevenson. He was sent to the naval hospital at Farragut where he will be hospitalized for a back ailment.

Marine Private First Class Jerry Stevenson, who was at the Farragut naval hospital having treatment for arthritis, has been transferred to Klamath Falls, Ore. He joined the marines a year and a half ago and saw service in the Pacific for nearly a year. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevenson and was graduated from the Reardan high school.

Lt. John Stevenson arrived Tuesday from Chanute Field, Ill., to visit his wife, the former Patricia Mahoney, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevenson. Lt. Stevenson, his wife and parents went to Klamath Falls, Ore., to visit with his brother, Marine Private Jerry Stevenson, who is being hospitalized at the marine hospital there. They report that his condition has not improved. Lt. Stevenson left Wednesday for Enid, Okla., where he will receive a new assignment. He is a veteran flyer with 70 missions over Europe.

Jerry Stevenson came Friday from Bremerton on a 72-hour pass and visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevenson. His cousin, Sgt. Richard Tee of Spokane, spent Saturday with him. This is the first time the boys have met since a year ago, when they met at Attu. Jerry is with the marines.

Marine Private First Class Jerry Stevenson, who spent 18 months in the Pacific and two years in the service, was given an honorable discharge at Bremerton. He returned home Friday. He expects to enter the University of Idaho, where he will major in forestry.
